The first single for new Curb Records act American Young is “Love is War,” a song that Billy wrote alongside Jonathan Singleton and Kylie Sackley, and is now a featured download on iTunes. American Young is a duo formed by Jon Stone and Kristy O, two seasoned artists and writers who have already written hits for some of the biggest names in country music, and are now creating their own brand of music that they hope will deeply affect and impassion listeners with its euphonic, haunting melodies and its compelling, rich storytelling. “Love is War” is the perfect debut of American Young’s brand of music, as it stands pretty singular among most country music currently on the radio. The sparse, modest production of the song not only allows Jon and Kristy to showcase the pure, harmonic blending of their voices, but also allows listeners to focus on the simple brilliance of the lyrics. The song is an honest but triumphant look at love, even at its most difficult. Though love always looks tranquil in picture frames because “nobody hangs hard times on the wall,” the song explores the ways that love is sometimes a white flag, sometimes war, but is always worth fighting for. The melody and the sentiment of this song will linger with you long after the music stops.
"EVERY ONE OF YOU" SNAGGED BY TRACE ADKINS
Danielle Green 2013
Billy's ability to weave together seemingly simple words, imbue them with poignancy, and make them a foot-stomping good time to boot, has again caught the attention of one of the biggest names in country music. Billy's song "Every One of You," written with the talents of Steve Bogard, Kyle Jacobs, and Phil O'Donnel, will be a part of Trace Adkins' 11th studio album entitled 'Love Will…' that will drop May 14, 2013. The song playfully begins with references to Scarlett O'Hara, Thelma and Louise, and Marilyn Monroe to describe the many faces and facets of the speaker's lover, but builds into a powerful, driving chorus which sincerely professes love and acceptance of every one of those pieces of his partner. Adkins has aptly chosen "Every One of You" to sit proudly among the talent of other songwriters and performers, such as Colbie Caillat, The Harlem Gospel Choir, and the band Exile, in an album that seeks to encompass the many different aspects and emotions of that forever-elusive word, love. You can find the album 'Love Will...' on iTunes, now available for preorder. Don't miss experiencing what Adkins calls the most inspiring and satisfying album of his career, of which "Every One of You" is an integral part.
